Listen to the Music
from Gary Mayo ([email protected])
This will allow u to listen to the music of
Alundra. After completing a number of your quests go back to the Inoa Mine
there is a house by the stream,if u go inside
and go upstairs you will meet Rohei. This great composer will let you listen
to
some of his music which is in fact the music
from the game.
Playing Tips
from Rock Ciccarone ([email protected])
When fighting Melzas himself, pay attention
to where he pops up last. The last clone to come from the ground is the
creature Melzas. Just wait in the middle of
the screen and pick him off.
When fighting the final brain thing, just run up to the brain and keep doing jump attacks.
Partial walkthrogh
This is NOT an FAQ. I just wanted to help others that may be stuck
(as I was a while ago and will, surely, be again) due to a lack of
Japanese knowledge. I'm only as far as the end of the third dungeon
so I'm afraid I won't be able to help further than that.
By the way, I'm Spanish and English is not my mother language, so
I hope you forgive my gramatical and spelling errors and e-mail me
any mistakes.
General Gameplay
If your problem is that you don't know where to go now, you should visit
the Fortune-teller. By answering Yes (the upper option) two times,
she
will show you a world map with your current location (marked with an
X)
and the place you have to go now (marked by a flash of light).
Common sticking points.
1st Dungeon : The Ancient house
There shouldn't be any problem with this one, but e-mail me if you
are stuck anywhere.
2nd Dungeon : The Mine
First Generator: As the miner shows, pull the levers in this order:
Left, left, Right, Left
Second Generator : Pull the upper lever three times, then the lower
one,
and lastly jump over the generator a couple of times
(it should flash white with each jump)
3rd Dungeon : The Crypt
Ghost puzzle: This is just at the entrance and TOOK ME 3 HOURS
TO FIGURE IT OUT (mainly because I wasn't sure if the
door would
open by just talking to the ghosts in order). Numbering
the
ghosts from 1 to 5 from left to right you must activate
them
in this order: 3 2 4 1 5
Four orbs puzzle : These are four purple orbs arranged in a diamond
shape.
You have to hit them in this order : Right, Left, Down,
Up.
Infinity rooms puzzle : This is composed by two rooms that repeat
themselves continuously when walking from left to right.
The first one has some sort of 3-dimensional maze and
three
light orbs that must be active at one time to open the
doors.
The problem is that one of them deactivates just after
being
hit, so it must be the third one you activate.
The second has just three slimes that have to be killed
in order to
open the doors.
To break the loop of those two rooms, you must enter the
first
one, then go to the second one, then again to the first
one.
There you must go left again (as if you wanted to exit
to
the corridor), but you will be in the second room again.
Head
right from there and you should end up in a new room.
Path to the 4th dungeon : The Desert
At the north end of the center stone structure you will
be carried
by two tornados to another section. In this you have to
look the
direction in which the wind blows and exit by that side
of the
screen.
4th Dungeon : The Pyramid
Throughout this dungeon there are many places in which
you will
have to place sculptures of a drop of water, a ball representig
the sun, a star and the moon in the tiles matching their
form.
Then you will reach one room in which there is only one
tile:
there you have to put the sculptures one on top of the
other, in
this order: Water, Sun, Moon, Star, being the water the
lowest one.
Oddly (and fortunately) enough, from this point on there doesn't seem
to be any more Japanese-text puzzles, although there are some quite
devilish ones (like in the ice towers). But this pseudo-faq was intended
to help people with the Japanese ones, so I won't be describing the
solution to the others. After all, that's half the fun!
What this means is that I won't make another revision unless I find
another Japanese-stucking point.

Control the Kaiser Form
from Demonslayer ([email protected])
When you choose the Kaiser, most of the time
Ryu will be out of control. Choose
"Infinity" and "Failure" as your ONLY genes

times because she will not apprentice
RIGHT after you free her.

Master of Agility
from J.D. ([email protected])
To get the fairie Meryleep to become your
master, go east of Wyndia where there is a
spring that is said to be home of the fairies.
Have Peco run and knock a rock into the
middle of the pool, and a fairie will appear.
She will send you on a mission to get an
object stolen from her by a crow. Then go
to the mountain west of the Arena, and if you
walk behind the mountain a "?" should appear.
Enter have Peco hit the tree with the crow
on it. Take the object back to the fairie
and she will offer to be your master. Your agility
will go up +2, but your Hp, Power, and Defense
go down -1.
Quick and Easy Training Method for Beyd
from Sakura ([email protected])
I found a really quick way to train Beyd for
his fight against Zig. I had Momo and Nina in
my party. First of all, make sure you have
99 healing herbs(you'll need them!) Be sure to
buy Beyd a Moon Sword and a Breastplate so
he will have a weapon and armor...you
can't train him without them. Remove all armor
from all people in your party. This way,
Beyd can do more damage to you and his attack
power will raise faster. Nina had the
assist spells Blunt and Weaken. Cast both
spells on Beyd to weaken him so ypou do
more damage to him and his HP will rise rapidlly.
Have your party in the Attack
formation with Momo at the front(position
1) Have Nina cast weaken first until it affects
Beyd. Have Ryu (and Nina, after Blunt and
Weaken have taken effect ONCE)heal Beyd
evry round and Momo attack. Have Nina and/or
Ryu attack with Momo ONLY if Beyd
is fully healed AND dodged Momo's attack the
previous round. Using this method, I
trained Beyd 8 times. Before the 8th training
set of rounds, re-equip all characters. Using
this method, I trained Beyd so well, he was
kicking MY butt!! Once this is done and the
fight between Beyd and Zig begins, Zig was
doing 1 HP damage to Beyd and Beyd did
about 60-65 HP damage to Zig. Note: Don't
have your characters do anything but
defend the whole Beyd vs. Zig fight. It will
only cause the fight to end earlyer than
needed. Good luck!!
The Magic Master (Mygus)
from Nick Van de Houten ([email protected])
After you have gone a while through the game,
go north of the town of McNeil and you
will see a tree stump on the map (a question
mark will show.) Enter it and go up and you
will see and old man, talk to him. Whichever
character that is apprenticed with him will
gain more INT and AP, but gain a little less
Attack Power and Defense during level-ups.
The Master D'lonzo
from RyuBOF3 ([email protected])
Near Windia, there is a coffee shop. Go behind
it and there should be a girl walking
around. You need 15 different kinds of weapons
to get her.
The Master Emitai
from LeonRE2 ([email protected])
After you get older, you can get Emitai as
one of your Masters. ( Emitai is the leader of
the second team you fight in the Tournament
of Champions) After you get older, you go
near Ogre Road and there in a path that you
go to on your north. There is a hut. Talk to
Emitai and he will tell you that if you pay
him 10,000 zenny for his mortgage, he will teach
you some of his spells.
The Secret Master
from Nick Van de Houten ([email protected])
After you go to Windia the second time, there
is a master. The way to get to him is: See
the walls surrounding Windia, there is a pathway
beetween the walls (just a tiny incy
wincy south), continue to go through this
way and you will enter a little house. In this
house is a Master.
The Strength Master (Bunyan)
from Nick Van de Houten ([email protected])
After you get farther in the game, go back
to Bunyan's Cabin to make him a master for
one of your characters. Any character apprenticed
to Bunyan will gain more Attack
Power and Defence, and a little less Intellegence
and HP when gaining a level.
Thieving
from [email protected]
While walking around towns and such you can
steal a few zenny's here and there. Give
the people a wack with your sword and they
will pop out. Usually about 4 to 6 each
time. This will even work on dogs and other
animals.
Weretiger!?!?! No Problem!!
from The Kub ([email protected])
As you know when Rei rejoins your party he
gains the awesome spell WERETIGER.
The only problem is he some times attacks
your party. Solution... In the begining of the
game learn INFLUENCE from a BOSS GOBLIN (Pink
Colored). Then after he rejoins
have a slower character use it when he morphs.

Broken sword
Broken Sword is a very good adventure game. It has plenty humor and
plenty
alternative ways. But, if you don't be careful you'll be killed.
I tried it
often - on purpose, of course. It's fun to see how silly George Stobbart
do his action to save the world, it's even fun to see George Stobbart
dies
because of his silliness. The one thing not good in the game is the
loading
time, it sometimes ruin the suspense (you'll see, you'll see), but
it's still
fun.
Well, now let's go to the game!
1.Paris
Pick up the newspaper, walk to the roadworks. After Rosso's interview
in the cafe, talk to Nico. Ask Nico about the clown and Plantard
(the victim) until she has told you all she knows and gives you
her phone number.
Walk to the roadworks and give the newspaper to the workman. Get the
tool
from the toolbox inside the tent. Walk to the alley on the right hand
side
of the cafe square. Use the tool on the manhole cover.
Get the clown's nose from the first sewer. Get the tissue and
the scrap
of material from the second sewer.
Climb the ladder to the courtyard above. Show Rosso's card to the concierge.
Show the material to the concierge. Ask concierge about the jacket.
Say
goodby to the concierge and return to the roadworks.
Telephone Nico and get her address. Exit the roadworks to the right,
to the Paris map. Go to Rue Jarry.
Talk to the flower seller to identify Nico's address. Try the door,
then ask the flower seller about Nico again.
Go to Nico's apartment. Show the material to Nico and take the photograph.
Show her the nose. Go to the Risee du Monde and show the photograph
to the
costumier. Ask him
about the clown. Leave the costumier taking the buzzer.
Telephone Todryk the tailor and ask him about Khan.
Go to the hotel Ubu. Speak to Piermount about herself and show photo.
Try to get key. Ask Piermount about key. Talk to Piermount about the
key
and the assassin. When the receptionist has left, take the key.
Go upstairs. Use key on first door on the right. Open window and
climb out.
Enter window to the right. Try leaving the room via the door. Once
assassin
has been and gone, search the trousers he left on the bed, to get the
id-card
and
match-book. Leave room through the door.
Ask receptionist about safe then show him ID card.
Show Piermount the ID card, so she helps you retrieve manuscript from
safe.
Go back to first room, stand on ledge, and drop manuscript to the ground.
I've tried to go outside directly , and I was killed, I guess by Flap
and
Guido. Leave hotel. Go to alley behind hotel and collect manuscript.
Talk to
Nico about Manuscript. Exit to map and go to Museum. Examine tripod
in the
centre of the room. Go back to Nico's apartment and tell her you're
going
to Ireland. Go to Airport, go to Ireland.

Ron
the poacher then say goodbye. Wait until Ron leaves a snare on the
table,
then take the snare when he sneezes (you must do it fast). Ask Sean
Fitzgerald about the dig. Ask Doyle about Peagram, the dig, and Fitzgerald,
and then if he wants a beer. Ask him again about Fitzgerald.. While
Doyle is
drinking, take the towel from under his elbow. Ask Fitzgerald about
the dig
again.
Go outside and ask Maguire about Fitzgerald again. Go back inside and
ask
Fitzgerald about the dig, Peagram, and the gem. Ask about the
package. When
Fitzgerald has left and Maguire has burst in, go back outside. Turn
off the
beer pumps by throwing the exposed switch beside the pub door.
Go back into the bark and ask Mick Leary for a drink. Show him the ID
card.
Use the snare on the glass-washer's plug. Go to the cellar and undo
the bolt
holding the trapdoor. Go back to the street and upon the trapdoor.
Return to
the cellar and pick the gem. Turn on the tap and use it to wet the
towel.
Leave the pub and take the path to the castle gate. Tell the farmer
about
Fitzgerald's abduction. Climb the haystack. Insert manhole tool into
wall,
then click on gap at top to climb over.
Approach the goat to the right of the trough (by clicking on the ladder).
As
soon as the goat knocks you over, click on the plowshare on the far
left.When
the goat is trapped, go to the ladder and enter the excavation. Get
some
plaster from the sack. Move the stone idol so it falls on the sand,
then
raise it to expose the holes. Use the plaster on the holes in the sand.
Use
the wet towel on the plaster in the sand (if the towel has dried, wash
it in
the cellar again). Pick up the plaster replica and use it on the holes
in the
wall. Enter the secret room.
3. Back to Paris
Show Nico the gem. Leave and go to Police Station. Ask Moue about Marquet.
Leave and go to Hospital.
Ask receptionist about Marquet. Show her your ID. Talk about Nurse Grendel
until she gives you directions. Go down corridor. Speak to Sam the
cleaner
then unplug the cleaning machine. When Sam leaves, go to the closet
and get
the Doctor's coat. Return to reception and talk to the guy in the doorway.
Go back up the corridor to the ward. Attempt to walk thorough the ward.
After
the patient has stopped you, speak to Benoir. Give him the pressure
cuff,
talk to him about it, and tell him to use it on Eric Sopmash (the right
hand
icon). Walk into Marquet's room and talk to him about everything.
Go to the museum and speak to Lobineau about the manuscript and
the night
until he tells you about Spain. When the guard is not looking, open
the
window, then when he goes to close it hide in the sarcophagus. When
the raid
starts, push on the totem pole.
4. Mountfacuon Catacombs
Talk to the juggler and attempt to juggle. Talk to the policeman, show
him
the red nose. Talk to the juggler and attempt juggling again. When
juggler
and policeman leave, use the sewer key to lift the manhole cover and
descend
beneath the streets.
Examine the rightmost arch. Use the sewer key to break a hole in the
plaster.
Pull level. Examine mechanism. Board boat and move the boom over the
right-
hand path. Lower chain. Take the chain hook and attach it to the exposed
cog.
Board the boat and turn the winch.Enter next room.
Look through hole in the wall to see Templars' meeting. Look through
hole
again. Go down the steps. Put the tripod on the stand in the middle
of the
circle. Put the gem on the tripod.
5. Spain

the
house. Go into the house. Go down the passage to the rear of the house.

the dogs scare George back into the hallway, left-click on the armoire.
Go
upstairs. Talk to the Countess about everything. Pick up the Bible

Click on the steps to go up to the club. Try to go into the Club Alamut's
toilet. Read the sign. Ask Ultar about the sign. Return to the main
street
again. Look at and talk to Arto - the kebab stall holder near the steps
to
the carpet seller. Talk to Nejo about Arto. Offer Nejo the red ball
and
answer YES when he asks if you mean it. Use the phrase on Arto. Go
back and
talk to Nejo.
Go back to the club and give the toilet brush to the club manager. Go
into
toilet, unblock the roller towel and take the towel. Go back to Nejo's
stall.
Stroke the cat and then ring the desk bell on the stall's counter.
Pick up
the broken statuette. Use the tissue on the statuette. Talk to Duane
and sell
him the statuette in exchange for $50 bill. Go back to club and show
Ultar
the photograph. Talk to Ultar until he offers to take George to the
Bull's
Head hill, then give him the $50 bill.
Meet Ultar at the truck and give him the roller towel. Use the stick/towel
on
the crack at the cliff edge and climb down. Examine the niche in the
rock 'til
the ring is found and pull it. Search Klausner's body, look at Baphomet
and
read the inscription. Don't lie to Khan. Say you want to die like a
man. When
he offers to shake your hand, agree, but select the buzzer in the grace
period. While he's down, jump off the cliff.

key. Go back to lobby and give keys back to guard. Go outside and try
to use
plaster key on painter's pot. Go back down to the lobby and phone Nico.
Go
back and talk to painter about phone. Dip plaster key in paint pot
to make
it look real. Go back down to the lobby and examine the thermostat
on the
left wall. Ask guard about the thermostat. Click on the thermostat,
turning
it to cold. The guard then puts on his gloves.
Get the keys from the guard. Use the painted key on the keys to swap
it for
the "real" excavation room key. Give keys back to Guard (he can't feel
the
fake key with his gloves on). Try the key on the left door. Phone Nico
again
and wait around. Go back to the lobby and use Excavation key on the

key. Take the Bible. Give the Bible to the Countess and get her to
look up
the references. Talk to Lopez about wells and how to find them.
Take twig from the tree by the utility room window and show it to Lopez.
Examine the Lions head and pull the tooth. QUICKLY move away from it
!!!!
(click on left side of screen). Examine the exposed wall. Use the mirror
on
the shaft of sunlight coming down from the well to illuminate the keyhole
in
the wall. Locate the keyhole by touching the secret door again, and
then use
the stone key on the door. After returning to Nico, go to Bannockburn.
10. The train

and head left down the corridor. After confronting Guido, go as far
left as
you can. After George realizes Eklund is on the train, go back to your
compartment. Go to the second compartment and talk to Geordie on the
left.
Open the window and climb up. Head to the LEFT. Naah!! Just kidding,
but try
it if u want to die, I did try it). Well go to RIGHT if you want to
save your
time
Enter the baggage car. When Guido is thrown off the train, pull the
emergency
brake on left wall. Attempt to leave the carriage. After talking to
Nico,
leave the carriage.
11. Scotland, the final stage
In the church tower, turn the handle on the wheel mechanism to break
it off.
Take the cog and spindle. Examine the rubble until you find a second
cog. Use
both cogs on the demon, then the handle. Enter the crypt and walk through
to
the far exit.
Watch the cool movie.
Grab the torch QUICKLY and throw it on the gunpowder.
And, enjoy the cool Ending !!!!!
If you want to know: the hero got the girl, as usual.
P.S:
After you finish the game, SAVE it quickly, then LOAD the game again.
Here you'll see something weird. I did it and Isaw it, but I don't
guarantee
it will work the same on you. If you see it, you don't have to worry,
because
the game CD is alright.

castlevania
210.1% Score
from David Long ([email protected])
To get 210.1%, go to the Royal Chapel in the
first castle. Go to the long vertical place
where the confession room (the room with the
chairs and you hear the bells) is at your
right and the left leads to the large sword.
Stand in the left side, but don't go in, equip the
sword familiar and do half-circle forward
and up-left and hold up for two seconds then
press down and square (Sword Brothers.) When
the sword is spinning transform into a
bat and go to the left doorway. If your timing
is right you should go *through* the wall
and be able to fly around the castle.
IMPORTANT: To obtain 210% you must have your
sword familiar maxed out to level
99 with 99 experience points. If this is not
acheived, the cheat doesnt work.

Easy Familiar Experience
from [email protected]
Ok, easy way, but a bit time consuming, to
get experience for all your familiars. I believe
you have to have it beaten once first. but
I may be wrong.
As you start the game, go through like you
normally would. But this time, don't but alot
from the librarian. Only get the Jewel of
Open, and 1 or 2 Library Cards. The proceed
with the game.
Once you get in the inverted castle, keep going
and get AS MUCH MONEY AS
POSSIBLE. Once you get 500,000 go back to
the librarian, and purchase the
Duplicator. Then go BACK to the inverted castle,
and equip it. By this time, you should
have at least ONE of the Power of Sire items.
Equip that as well. Voila, you have an
infinite supply now as long as you have the
duplicator equipped.
Now go to the room in the inverted church thing
(forgot the name off hand), and enter the
room with the big sword that is surrounded
by spears and shields. Use the Power of Sire,
then leave the room, and go back in, use it
again, and so on and so forth. Within an hour I
had ALL my familiars powered up to 99/99.
Effortless Experience Gain
from Ron Zimmerman ([email protected])
To get effortless experience follow these
simple steps:
play through
the game like normal until you get your bat familar.
at this point
go back to near the start of the game where the zombies keep coming
out of the ground.
then all you
do is stand on the step on the stairs where the zombies can't reach you
and turn your
bat familiar on. Just make sure that you are far enough away that the
zombies won't
hurt you if your familar misses one of them.
The bat familar
will kill most of the zombies that appear, also make sure you are
looking in the
direction of the zombies or the bat will not hit them.
The best part about this trick is that the
familar will kill the zombies and both he and you
will get the experience making this absolutely
simple in gaining levels. In three hours my
bat went from level 2 to level 60!
Enhanced Luck
from Sandro Rivellino ([email protected]) and [email protected]
After beating the game once, start a new game
and enter your name as X-X!V"Q. You'll
start with 99 luck and the Lapis Lazuli item,
but your strength and hitpoints will be
reduced.
Extra Options
from Code King2000 ([email protected])
At the name select screen, enter your name
as AXELORD then go to the Settings screen.
Fiddle with the Logo
from Rob Ledrich ([email protected])
When the words NOW LOADING are on screen,
you can manipulate them with the
d-pad.
Get the Holy Glasses and all Four Endings
from Demonslayer ([email protected])
To get the Holy Glasses you need the gold
ring (after beating the Succubus in Nightmare,
located in a side path in the long tunnel
to the underground) and the silver ring (in the hall
of spikes in the tower, you need the Spike
Buster armor from the underground.) Take
these to the clock tower and equip them. You'll
get a L-O-N-G sequence before it lets
you go down. Follow the path to find Maria,
she'll give you the Holy Glasses.
Endings
1. Simply go to the castle tower and defeat
Richter without meeting Maria. Alucard will
escape the destroyed castle and say a few
things before going back to his eternal sleep.
2. Get the Holy Glasses and defeat Richter.
Maria will have also escaped and tell you
she's continuing her search for what happened
to Richter.
For the 3rd and 4th endings, do this first:
Get the Holy Glasses and equip them, but
DON'T kill Richter. Instead, attack the green
orb above him until it shatters. From here
you'll go to the inverted castle.
3. Defeat Dracula with anything below 200%
and you'll see Maria and Richter waiting for
you outside the castle. Maria will decide
not to follow Alucard and will return with
Richter.
4. Get AT LEAST 199.1% and defeat Dracula.
The others will be waiting, but Maria will
decide to follow Alucard and try to help him
cope with what he is.
Heaven Sword Special Attack
from DarkMatter ([email protected])
You can get Heaven Swords as a rare item by
killing the Cloaked knights (flying knights
that toss their swords at you). If you have
two of these, equip one in each hand and press
both square and circle to activate the special
attack.
Music Select
from Adam Williams ([email protected])
To gain access to the excellent soundtracks,
complete the game (fully, with over 190%)
with Alucard and restart a brand new game
with Alucard (do not cover over the old
one). When you get to the Librarian, simply
walk up to him and a music select option will
appear with the 'buy/sell' box.
Play as Richter - Japanese and American
from Sandro Rivellino ([email protected])
After beating the game once, start a new game
and enter your name as RICHTER. You
can play now as Richter Belmont.
Secret Rooms
from Drac Man and Eaton
Here are the locations of some of the secret
rooms in the game.
Room 1: Outer Wall
When you enter the stage from the Marble Garden,
go down to meet an Armor Lord.
Beat him and go to the left. Hack the wall
on the left wall to get a Pot Roast. Stand in the
Space for 20 seconds and you will go into
a room with items
Room 2: Alchemy Lab And Necromancy Lab
In the Alchemy Lab, hack the wall in the first
room going up. Inside is a Heart Max-up.
The one in the Necromancy lab of the inverted
castle is in the same spot.
Room 3: Colossem and Reverse Colossem
In the room with Blade Soldiers and Blade
Masters, go to the first pillar, face left and use
a few axes to reveil a passage.
Rooms 4 and 5: Orlox's Quarters and Akmodan's
Chamber
The first room is in the room with the Sprit
Sword. Go to the right to find a dead end,
hack the wall to get some good items.
The second one is later in the stage. When
you are in courtyard with the Vahalla Knights,
go down to the ground and proceed left. Proceed
left until you are in a room with the
bridge. Hack Every part of the wall until
you reveal the room. Do the same in Akmodan's
Chamber's (Orlox's Room in the Inverted Castle)
Room 6: Clock Tower and Reverse Clock Tower
In the room before the Birdman boss, Hack
the right wall at the top of the room.
Room 7: Pit to the Catacombs
Use the Demon Familiar to flip the switch
after the Cerberas Boss to reveil a room. Do
the same in the inverted castle.

|__________________________________|
Well, this list was almost complete a lot of time
ago (about a month
after the game's release) but lazyness and other things have
prevented
me from releasing it. I know, it won't be very useful by now,
but I
can't lose anything releasing it.
I'm afraid I won't be able to answer mails regarding
this list,
since A) I won't make a revision, so contributions are not neccesary
(yeah, I know I'm missing a lot... life's though), and B) I won't
answer
any question either. I'm really sorry, but I just don't have
the time.
I have included my e-mail address because... well, because I
always do,
but don't use it. I'm not playing the game anymore anyway.
I compiled this little list file mostly for myself;
since the
excellent FAQ by Scott Dilley explained the game's mechanics
really
well, I didn't feel there was a need to make another one. But
after
I had a more or less complete item list, I thought I might as
well
release it for others to use.
Many of the items names / translations are taken
from that FAQ.
I will assume you have read it and won't bother explaining the
game's
mechanics, specially regarding fusing equipment pieces. If you
have
a question, make sure you have read his FAQ first, because chances
are that the answer will be there. Both his and my FAQ can be
found
at www.gamefaqs.com.
Finally, for a FAQ for the Xenogears demo disc that
comes with
the game, check www.gamefaqs.com too. Though it's quite outdated
too, so you might want to check the Xenogears FAQ itself (I'm
everywhere!
MWAHAHAHAHA! :) ). In the remote chance that someone interested
in that
FAQ is reading this, I haven't updated it because of exams, but
if
everything goes well, K.M. will be updating until I finish them.
Otherwise, I finish exams in early July. So what, you ask? Grrrr...
One last thing. You need a Japanese ASCII viewer
to display the Japanese
text within this FAQ correctly. You can get one at www.njstar.com.
On with the FAQ!
*** Fusion Fruits ***
Some of the fruits don't have an effect when eaten.
Instead, they
must be fused with two claws or saddles at either the cooker's
or at a
fireplace. I think the effects of these fruits deserve some more
explanation:
The fuse fruits (there are two kind but I've not
been able to tell
the difference) are probably the most useful. They allow you
to keep the
abilities of both equipment pieces when they are fused. Let's
say you
have an Arc Claw (three-way attack) and a Double Knock Claw (attacks
twice). You fuse them with the unite friut and voila, you have
a
three-way, twice attacking claw. The claw you selected first
will
be the "base" claw (the resulting one will keep its attack power,
speed, description and aspect). The claw's current properties
will
be listed in green font below its description.
There are some subtleties to this (I will use the
word claw but
all of these are also applicable to saddles).
First, a claw can only hold two different abilities.
Second, you CAN'T normally erase the added abilities
of a claw,
so fusing a two-abilities claw with another one and a unite fruit
will have no additional effect. There's a special fruit that
allows
you to erase the second ability of a claw.
Third, and most interesting, it IS possible to fuse
a claw with
no abilities (a Mithril claw, for example) with another two claws,
(via two unite fruits), and keep the characteristics of the first
claw with the abilities of the other two. Remember the rule is
that
a claw can't have more than two abilities, so if it hadn't any
to
start with... Claws with no abilities have a - in their description.
Other fusing fruits include elemental fruits, which
will make the
equipment piece elemental (claws will cause elemental damage,
saddles
will halve that damage done to you). They work exactly as if
you fused
the claw with the Flame Claw, Ice Claw, etc... Remember that
it will
use up one of the two spaces a claw has for abilities.
The last and rarest fusion fruit is the level fruit.
It instantly
doubles the level of the equipment piece! (after adding both
pieces
levels). Say, you fuse a +15 and a +8 claws, and you will get
a +46
( (15+18)*2 ) claw. The maximum level for an equipment piece
is 99.
*** The Lists ***
The item explanations are in the following order
: Japanese name,
English translation, (Attack or Defense power if applicable),
selling
price, comments.
The reason for listing their selling prices is that
the buying ones
depend on where you buy them. Also note that each +1 or -1 in
claws
and saddles add or detract a 3% of the original prices, and that
oiling
them adds another 2%.

An additional couple of random comments. First, spells
change their
appearance at level 10 and at level 30. You can choose to cast
lower-rank spells by just not letting the ATB fill up. Also,
you can
cast a spell on all enemies within range by just pressing the
R1
button when selecting a target. This is very useful as the spell's
attack power will not be lowered by a great deal.
This should be obvious, but most cards / potions
can be kicked at the
enemy thus affecting them.
The whistle's usefulness comes when paired with the
telepo boxes.
The idea is to teleport five objects out of the dungeon, then
using
the whistle to recover the telepo boxes, since (if you had an
empty
drawer at your house) the telepo boxes will be the first item
in the
list. You can then teleport four more items to the drawer (remember
six spaces will be taken by the former five items and the telepo
boxes), or (as I do) teleport three of them, then using the fourth
telepo box to teleport the fifth. This way you won't stick with
the
fifth telepo box all the time you're in the dungeon (I'd rather
have
a sellable item).
One of the combinations that generate the Wisdom
Fruit (lowers
a spells' ATB by one) that Scott Dilley's FAQ hints at is Rasan
Nut + Silence Potion. This is a pretty useful combination as
the
Rasan fruit can be bougth in the store by a mere 600 gil, and
the
silence potion is relatively common (and not very useful). I'm
sure
there are more combinations, though.
Here's some info on the chocobo's neighbours, thanks
to Mariko
Hagiwara: to be precise, you have to sell a certain amount of
certain
items to make them appear.
For the chocobo family: sell about 50 Drain
books.
For the fox professor: sell about 20
Minimum Cards.
For the moogle tarot lady: ???
For the raccoon:
sell about 30 Underworld Cards.
The pond above the dungeon house will become less murky if you
keep
selling Gushing Water Cards.
Frogs will start living in the pond if you keep selling Toad
Cards.
...Or so I've heard. (^_^;
And here's some more info, this time about how to open
Magic Chests
(you know, the ones with all that decoration), again from Mariko.
Keep in mind that the chests will always explode if you can't
carry
any more items:
Speaking from the answers I got, they say using Drain spells
to open
them is 100% effective, and other magics are 50% effective.
I've reached around floor 170 in the 3rd dungeon.
From floor 100
on it just seems to repeat the 1-99 ones. I reached floor 66's
boss
and it counted as already defeated (the stair had already appeared).
*** Thanks Section ***
Thanks a lot to Scott Dilley ([email protected])
for making the
original CMD FAQ, without which I might not have even purchased
this
game.
And lots of thanks also to Mariko Hagiwara for a
lot of help with
the items translations and effects as well as general assistance
and
some tips.
That's all. I hope this was useful to you. Bye!

the right
In the medicine cabinet, you'll find an unlimited supply of tablets.Mike
only
needs 1 dose per visit.Click on the shower stall so Mike can make himself
presentable.
Next you'll need the Library card.Go to the 2nd upstairs bedroom thru
the door
on the rightof the bathroom. You'll detect the Library Card in the pocket
of the
raincoat(activate the examine icon and click on the pocket afew times).Mike
should take the card. You may view it if you wish.
Go downstairs. On your office desk you'll find plans to mike's new home
and they
do show a secret passage in both the study and bedroom where Mike sleeps. Now
that you know there is a door here, you can use the hand to open it.It
has a
tendency to close behind you,s0 go backand open it.Climb the ladder. On
the
second floor you'll find some rope;TAKE IT.Exit the passage but make
sure it
remains open.If either of the secret doors close, they can cause problems
for
you on the darkside.
Depending on how much time you've taken, the doorbell may be ringing. If
so,run
downstairs and answer it so it will stop.Surprised by the package? Now
head back
upstairs and go straight to the attic. There's a watch under the largest
trunk;
you can move the trunk using the hand icon on the lower corner of the
trunk.
Take the watch and wind it .The ancient timepiece will help you keep
track of
game time. Now that you've moved the chest, you can step out onto the
balcony.Tie
the rope to the gargoyle you find there, thus providing another means
of
access to the house.
Now exit the balcony again, climd down the rope and enter the garage
from the
rear.Open the trunk of the car and examine the area. You should find
a crowbar.
Take it.Climb inside the car and take the glooves from the gloove box.
Head around the front of the house and read the paper that's
lying there.
Go back inside, run to the attic and open the trunkon the right with
the
crowbar. You'll find some interesting reading there.Go back outside
and move
right towards the heart of Woodland Hills.
Once in town you'll need to visit the library and the grocery store. In
the
library you must find the bobby pin on the floor infront of the Librarian.
Look hard;IT'S THERE.Give the young lady the card you found earlier. She
then
tells you to go to isle C.Once there ,click on the green book to recieve
an
important message.Read the message. There is nothing else to do here
for the
moment.
Next go to the grocery store and purchase a bottle of scotch.Delbert
shows up
and hands you a GET OUT OF JAIL FREE card and asks you over to his
place
tomorrow at six.
Go home and open the clock case to find the JOHN MCKEEGAN name plate. You
should
still have plenty of time left for snooping. So look about the place
until the
librarian calls. After she calls run back into town and pick it up.Now
go home
again and go to bed.
DAY 2
Take your aspirin, shower. If you haven't heard the ethereal voice yet
then go
to the garage and listen to the radio. The missing fragment to the palour
mirror
arrives and you need to slip it into place. This completes the portal
to the
darkside.Cross over.
Take some time to get adjusted to the new colour sceme. You'll notice
2 doors.
Take the right one to the room with skulls.Enter the room on the left.On
the
table you'll find plans for embryo implantation. Now you know what's
causing
your headaches.Go thru the door on the right. This corresponds with
the secret
passage door downstairs back home.
Step into the recessed turbo lift.Go left to the observation deck.On
the wall
between the 2 doors(you just excited via the left door)you'll find
a switch.
Use the glooves to activate it.If you don't use glooves you could get
a nasty
shock.Return to the turbo lift and then the room with the skulls. There
should
be a new door open now.Go thru.Go left until you find the shovel. Return
to
the mirror portal and cross over.
Go to the graveyard and exhume john Mckeegan.Read the journal extract.
The Police will then throw you in the lock up.Leave the glooves, money
and pin.
Stick them under the pillow and grab the tin cup on you cot.Rattle
it on the
bars. When the policeman comes hand him the get out of jail card. Before
leaving
steal the gun.
Go to Delberts,he won't be there so go to your garage and meet him
there.
Debert invites you over and begins to play with his dog.Offer him the
scotch.
After delbert leaves take the stick.
Now MOVE QUICKLY!!!!
Cross the portal.take first door on the right and then the door that
you
opened by pulling the lever.Follow the road on the right until you
encounter
Fido.Throw the stick into the abyss.Continue to the right until you
reach the
Dark Sargeant,he takes you into custody and also takes the gun.
Grab the items under the pillow.Use the bobby pin on the door;you might
have
to do this a few times.Acroos the way,Sargo asks you for aid.Swap the
pin for
the headband. If you have'nt put on the headband,do so now.Exit the
building
and continue right.Walk past the guard and enter the archives to meet

in the
periodicals room.Use film on the reader.
On the way out get another bottle of scotch.Go around the back of Mike's
place.Don't use the front door.Go to the cellar and locate the loose
stone.
Take the stone and look again.Take the keys.
Take the stone back to the darkside nexus and energise it.Use the stone
with the axe handle.Return to the real world and go to the garage.Pour
the
scotch into the fuel tank and start the car.
Cross the portal again and enterthe spacecraft.Use the glooves on the
lever.
